“Owning a home is a keystone of wealth…both financial affluence and emotional security.” -Suze Orman, Personal Finance Author and Media Personality
Maybe you are just starting out in the world or maybe you are looking for a career change that offers flexibility and unlimited income potential…you are thinking of becoming involved in real estate and, in particular, a real estate agent to start. Here are some of the requirements that you will need in your path to becoming a real estate agent in Vietnam.
First, all states require that you take a salesperson class. I strongly suggest you either talk to a real estate agent whom you know or someone close to you knows and find out where they took their courses. As with others schools some are better (and cheaper) than others. In addition, respond to an ad in your paper about becoming a real estate salesperson and either arrange for an interview or attend one of their intro classes. More often than not you will learn if real estate is something you really want to get into. Also they can direct to a reputable real estate school and often, at times, at a discounted rate if you as much agree to work for them after getting your license.
Secondly, is the state licensing test. Most states only have this once or twice a month and you want to get in as soon as possible once you graduate from your school. You will be paying fees of around $100-$200 to the state so be prepared for that. The test can be tedious and if you fail you have to take it again before you will get your license. Also, you will have to pay the fees again so make sure you are prepared the first time.
Third, once you pass the test and get your real estate license you have to find a broker to work for. You cannot just go around and trying to sell real estate as an individual. Find a reputable real estate company to work with and don’t be discouraged if it takes a little bit for your first sale. Many agents first sale comes from family or friends and from there it’s all up to you.
In ending, there is also the intangibles such as personality and charisma. These are things that are not taught in any real estate school but are key factors for many successful real estate agents. Well there you have it. The requirements to becoming a real estate agent are not many but the path to becoming a successful real estate agent is another story for another article.
